Made in the early years of Belgium, around 1830-1840, this Georgian ring bears the horse head control mark, one of the earliest Belgian gold hallmarks used after independence. It is set with seven rose-cut diamonds in silver on 18 ct red gold. Its fine, slightly curved line, along with its softly irregular old cuts, give it a discreet intimacy that perfectly matches its period.
- Type of jewelry: ring
- Condition: very good condition
- Country of origin: Belgium
- Style: Georgian. In most English-speaking countries, the Georgian style refers to the whole range of styles in use between 1720 and 1840. It takes its name from the first four British monarchs of the maison of Hanover — George I of Great Britain, George II of Great Britain, George III of the United Kingdom, and George IV of the United Kingdom — who reigned in continuous succession from August 1714 to June 1830.
- Period: around 1830-1840
- Material: 18 ct red gold and silver details, tested with a touchstone
- Technique: the rose-cut diamonds are set on foil, a technique used to optimize the brilliance of the diamonds.
- Diamonds: seven rose-cut diamonds and senailles. A senaille is a simplified rose-cut diamond, a small diamond chip with possibly a few polished facets. The weight of the rose-cut diamonds and the senailles is not available, which is normal in the trade for this type of stone.
- All diamonds, regardless of their size or shape, present in the antique jewelry and vintage are verified as 100% natural by the IJGC laboratory.
- Birthstone: diamond is the birthstone for the month of April.
- Hallmarks: Belgian control mark for 18 ct gold depicting a horse head, used in Belgium between 1832 and 1869.
- Dimensions: width of the band at the top of the ring 0.54 cm (0.21 inch)
- Weight: 1.90 g (1.22 dwt)
- Ring size: 66 (FR)
- Resizing: free, except for extreme resizing which may incur a charge.
