At the center is a 1.11-carat natural fancy color diamond, round brilliant cut, graded Fancy Deep Yellow-Orange, with an even color distribution and SI2 clarity according to the GIA (report number provided to seriously interested prospective buyers).
The hyphenated color description is the notable feature. In GIA nomenclature, the dominant hue is listed last and any modifier comes before it: thus, an orangy yellow is a yellow stone and a yellowish orange is an orange stone, whereas a hyphenated yellow-orange indicates the presence of two hues of comparable intensity. The result is a warm pumpkin color: the orange is present at full saturation rather than as a modifier of yellow. Orange is among the rarest hues in natural diamond, and stones in which it is equal to yellow are rarer than the yellow-dominant stones that make up most of the category.
The stone is cut to favor color rather than spread. With a depth of 64.1% and a table of 56%, these proportions lengthen the path of light through the stone, allowing this level of saturation to be achieved. The color distribution is considered even, an important note for diamonds with deep hues, where uneven color is common. No fluorescence.
The center stone is claw-set in 18k yellow gold, within a pavé of natural yellow diamonds totaling approximately 0.50 carat, framed by four pear-shaped diamonds of approximately 0.25 carat each and round brilliant diamonds totaling approximately 1.50 carats, for a total of 2.50 carats of white diamonds, color F–G, clarity VVS–VS, mounted on platinum 950.
