We discovered an original L. Fritzsche and Co. nail pendant from the Edwardian era and loved the hand-engraved leafy scrolls along the surface of the nail. We cast the pendant in 14k gold and our jeweler carefully bent the nail to give it the shape of a ring, with the tip of the nail touching the head. The ring was then hand-engraved, inspired by the motif of the original Edwardian pendant. In this version, we chose to adorn the head of the nail with three 1.5 mm diamonds. Masterfully set and engraved, the stones are held in a carved and defined setting that follows the shape of the nail's head. The head of the nail forms a beautiful asymmetrical center, using Edwardian elements to create a fresh and contemporary look. The intricate engraved details of a flower and leafy scrolls catch the light in a mesmerizing sparkle.
Equestrian jewelry was popular during the Edwardian era and symbolized good fortune, power, success, and strength. The original Edwardian piece from which this ring is cast was made by L. Fritzsche, around 1908, a jeweler known for a horseshoe bracelet featuring similar engravings to these, and responsible for much of the equestrian jewelry created at that time.
