Important 19th-century Scottish Signet ring ring, crafted in 18 ct yellow gold and set with a finely engraved sardonyx intaglio depicting a full coat of arms.
The intaglio features a quartered shield with scallop shells and roses, supported by two storks, surmounted by a crest with a bird of prey, and bearing the motto "NE OUBLIEZ" (Do not forget). This complete heraldic composition corresponds to the arms of the Graham family, Dukes of Montrose.
The presence of supporters indicates a high-ranking heraldic privilege, typically reserved for the nobility of great prestige in the British heraldic system. The Scottish origin of the ring is confirmed by the Glasgow assay office hallmark, with the number "18" indicating 18 ct gold.
The setting is richly decorated with acanthus and floral motifs, in keeping with the craftsmanship of the mid to late 19th century. The intaglio is deeply and precisely engraved, designed to be used as a functional seal.
