The spectacular design of this 14k gold ring and platinum lies at the crossroads of the Art Deco and Retro eras; the influence of these two periods makes this ring bold and unique. The shape of the ring is a dynamic geometric ribbon. A large Old European cut diamond of 1.15 carats is at the center, with a smaller diamond set to the side. Below, a row of square sapphires set in a channel adds an L-shaped border. The last layer, which forms the widest part of the ring, consists of 29 Old European cut diamonds set in grain settings, arranged so that the diamonds and their grains create an inlay. The top in platinum highlights the crisp brilliance, and the 14k rose gold ring body brings retro softness and beauty to the piece. Circa 1930-1940.
The total diamond weight is just over 4 carats, in natural diamonds. All diamonds are Old European cut. The large central diamond is K color, VS2 clarity, and measures 6.2 mm. The intermediate diamond is J color, VS2 clarity, and measures 4.1 mm. The 29 small diamonds are G to I color, VS1 to SI1 clarity, and measure from 2 to 3 mm. The eight natural dark blue sapphires are square cut and each measures 3.25 x 3.25 mm, for a total sapphire weight of about 2 carats.
The top of the ring measures 15/16” x 1” at the widest end and 1/2” at the narrowest end. The ring body measures 1/2” wide. Weight: 9.9 g. No hallmark. Mention of acid test removed.
