A true declaration of love, this heart-shaped medal charms with its timeless message and delicate elegance. Crafted in 18-carat yellow gold, this pendant takes the shape of a heart, the universal symbol of love. Its surface features a satin finish that subtly catches the light. A finely chiseled border frames the whole and adds an elegant luminous contrast. At the center, the medal reveals a famous love rebus. A raised cross symbolizes the “plus” sign, while the inscription “THAN YESTERDAY” appears on a horizontal banner. In contrast, two calibrated rubies embody the “minus” sign, bringing a touch of intense and precious color. Finally, the phrase “THAN TOMORROW” is delicately engraved in an arc in the lower part. The reverse offers an ideal space for a personalized engraving, allowing this jewel to become even more unique and intimate.
This jewel is inspired by a line that has become legendary: “Today more than yesterday and well less than tomorrow.” Written in 1889 by Rosemonde Gérard for Edmond Rostand, this poem celebrates a love that grows day by day. In 1907, jeweler Alphonse Augis transformed this phrase into a now-iconic rebus: “+ than yesterday – than tomorrow.” This medal has become an essential symbol of enduring love. The ruby, a stone associated with passion and the heart, further reinforces this symbolism.
Our jewelry has had a first life; it is in good condition, but may sometimes show a few irregularities, those of passing time; here, the tip of the heart is slightly dented. This slight defect is noticeable on the back.
