Around 1920, this diamond engagement ring illustrates the transition between Edwardian filigree and the geometric and architectural details of the Art Deco, integrating both eras into its design.
The old European cut diamond displays remarkable brilliance on the 18k white gold. The shank of the ring features a bridge-like structure with geometric filigree motifs and delicate millegrain work that continues along the side of the band. The round diamond is set in a square setting, adding sparkle to the entire ring.
The diamond measures 6.1 mm in diameter and weighs 0.9 ct. It is M color, with a slight warmth, and the facets of the Old European cut offer plenty of brilliance. The clarity is SI1 and features unusual inclusions: small crystals within the diamond in two places, appearing as "stones within the stone," or two smaller diamond structures within the main diamond. The inclusions are only visible under magnification.
The ring weighs 2.3 g. It measures 1/4" wide on top. It is marked 18k on the inside.
