Style specifics
Baroque is an artistic and decorative style that developed shortly before 1600 and remained common in Europe until the emergence of the Rococo style around 1730. Born in Italy, it spread to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Only a more or less austere classical version was popular in France under Louis XIV. This style, derived from the Renaissance, is characterized by lively, curved, and exuberant forms, vigorous movement, and rich ornamentation inspired by classical sources, symmetrical as opposed to the asymmetry of the Rococo style that followed it.

Theme
Cross – The cross is one of the oldest human symbols and is used by many religions, such as Christianity. It often represents the division of the world into four elements (or cardinal points), or the union of the concepts of divinity (the vertical line) and the world (the horizontal line).
