Antique rectangular ratchet clasp in solid 18-carat 750 thousandths rose gold, exempt from inspection. 19th-century French regional work. Decorated with a scroll chiseled with striations and embellished with dots. These 'sentiment' clasps were generally given at weddings and were used in the creation of 'slave collars'.
