Line VAUTRIN (1913 - 1997) was a French artist and designer of jewelry and decorative objects, known worldwide. The daughter of an art bronzesmith, she proved to be a precocious artist, who would show originality and independence from the artistic conventions of her time. She was revealed by her jewelry collection at the 1937 World's Fair, which notably allowed her to open a shop on the Champs Elysées; since then, she created unique, powerful, highly recognizable pieces, imbued with freedom, imagination, lyricism, and poetry, but also with playfulness and humor, referencing poems, concepts, hidden messages, suggested or engraved.....Particularly innovative, she created a new material: "talosel", found in many of her works, including the highly sought-after "witch mirrors"....The invention of this material and her creative universe earned her the nickname "poetess of metal".
