GIRARD - PERREGAUX
Founded in 1791

for the discerning Gentlemen

Since 1791, Girard-Perregaux has never stopped pushing the boundaries of watchmaking. Located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Girard Perregaux is part of the late Luigi Macaluso’s Sowind group, a subsidiary of Kering.

The Manufacture holds approximately 80 patents in the watchmaking field and is the originator of many innovative concepts. Expertise, a degree of movement finishing, and attention to detail have given it a reputation that has endured since the nineteenth century.

Wearing a Girard Perregaux watch means joining the club of famous clients: Alexandre Dumas or Balzac. The factory supplied both Queen Victoria, Kaiser Wilhelm I and his naval officers, the Duchess of Clermont-Tonnerre. More contemporary: Hugh Jackman, Harry Connick, Kobe Bryant, Alex Morgan, Kathy Griffin, Quentin Tarantino, Pierce Brosnan

ABOUT THIS MODEL:
A fine and rare Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic “Deep Diver”, Ref. 7897 – a 35 mm stainless steel self-winding diving watch, water-resistant to 200 meters, produced in the early 1960s. Part of the second generation of Deep Divers, it was manufactured in 1961–1962 in a total of only 1,500 pieces, across different dial variations (black or white) and with two distinct handsets, making it an exceptionally scarce find today.

Powered by the automatic Caliber GP 31-09 (based on the AS 1649). The highlight is the untouched black dial, remarkably well-preserved and in perfect condition. Three-piece polished stainless steel case, bidirectional metal bezel, snap-on caseback, plexiglass crystal

CONDITION REPORT:
The watch was professionally serviced by our watchmaker in Paris, this rarity keeps time and is in very good cosmetic condition. A chance to have a piece of GP history in your collection. The 7897 was produced with two different dial colors, but also with two different sets of hands, for us the model presented is the more harmonious. Only thing to note is a barely visible small mark on the bezel between 9 and 10. A true must-have. Our complete description serves as a certificate of authenticity and appraisal.
