Style
Between the Victorian era and Art Nouveau, Victorian decorative arts refer to the style of the decorative arts of the Victorian era. This period is known for its eclectic revival and interpretation of historical styles, as well as for the introduction of intercultural influences from the Middle East and Asia into furniture, fittings, and interior decoration. Victorian design is widely regarded as having exhibited a regrettable excess of ornamentation.
The Arts and Crafts movement, aesthetic movement, Anglo-Japanese style, and Art Nouveau all have their origins at the end of the Victorian era. Art Nouveau (in French “Nouveau Style”) is an international movement and an artistic, architectural, and applied style—particularly the decorative arts—that reached its peak at the turn of the twentieth century (1890-1905).
The term “Art Nouveau” means “new art” in French. It is also known as “Jugendstil,” which means “youth style” in German, after the magazine Jugend, which promoted it, and in Italy, as the Liberty style, after the London department store Liberty & Co., which popularized it. As a reaction to nineteenth-century academic art, it is characterized by organic motifs, particularly floral and other plant motifs, as well as fluid and stylized curvilinear forms.
Art Nouveau is an approach to design in which artists should work on everything from architecture to furniture, integrating art into daily life.

Style specifics
The late Victorian or aesthetic period – Experts divide the reign of Queen Victoria, also known as the Victorian era (1837-1901), into three periods of about twenty years each; the romantic Victorian period (1837-1860), the grand Victorian period (1860-1880), and the late or aesthetic Victorian period (1880-1901).
We consider this to be the late or aesthetic Victorian period.
The jewelry of this period evolved, moving from heavy pieces to smaller, more romantic ones, often with whimsical motifs. Jewelers used diamonds and brilliant gemstones to create refined and elaborate feminine pieces.

Theme
Snakes and serpents – Snakes and serpents are among the oldest and most widespread mythological symbols. The symbolic values they represent overlap considerably in various cultures. Some of this overlap is due to the common historical origin of contemporary symbols. However, much of this overlap is attributable to the shared biological characteristics of snakes.
Much can be said about snakes. Revered since Antiquity, they are a powerful religious symbol with multiple meanings, such as death and resurrection. They have also been associated with healing and river gods, and symbolize fertility, wisdom, and healing power.
