"Monachella" earrings with a swinging element, snap closure, in gold and diamonds.
The refined light of the four (approx. 4.00 ct.) carats of diamonds, in nineteenth-century style, is given by their "double Dutch rose" cut. The setting, as was customary at the time, is a closed bezel (a "nuit") with the stone seats internally lined with silver leaf.
Handcrafted items, they were dedicated to the earlobes of prestigious women with recognized social power: diamonds were much rarer and far more expensive than they are today. Therefore, this type of jewelry was made ad personam and only on specific commission.
