Make an offer
Originating from the height of Baroque art, around 1680, this antique cross pendant embodies the grandeur and spiritual significance of its era. Crafted in 18-carat yellow gold, it demonstrates the exquisite craftsmanship typical of French and Belgian artisans. It is adorned with six table-cut rose diamonds, set on foil to enhance their natural brilliance, a testament to the advanced techniques of the time. Despite slight wear to the gold, visible on the back, its historical charm remains intact. This piece, a fusion of devotional symbolism and artistic mastery, reflects the dynamic movement and ornamental richness characteristic of the Baroque style, offering a tangible link to a bygone era of opulence and devotion.

Style
Baroque – Baroque is an artistic style that was widespread from the late 16th century to the early 18th century in Europe. It is generally defined as "the dominant artistic style in Europe between the Mannerist and Rococo periods, characterized by dynamic movement, evident emotion, and asserted rhetoric."

Style specifics
Baroque is an artistic and decorative style that developed shortly before 1600 and remained common in Europe until the emergence of the Rococo style around 1730. Born in Italy, it spread to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Only a more or less austere classical version was popular in France under Louis XIV. This style, derived from the Renaissance, is characterized by lively, curved, and exuberant forms, vigorous movement, and rich ornamentation inspired by classical sources, symmetrical as opposed to the asymmetry of the Rococo style that succeeded it.
