Style
Victorian – Victorian decorative arts refer to the style of decorative arts during the Victorian era. This period is known for its eclectic revival and reinterpretation of historical styles, as well as the introduction of cross-cultural influences from the Middle East and Asia into furniture, accessories, and interior decoration. Victorian design is widely perceived as having demonstrated a regrettable excess of ornamentation. The Arts and Crafts movement, the aesthetic movement, the Anglo-Japanese style, and Art Nouveau all have their origins at the end of the Victorian era.

Style specifics
The Grand Victorian Period – Experts divide the reign of Queen Victoria, also called the Victorian era (1837–1901), into three periods of about twenty years each: the Romantic Victorian period (1837–1860), the Grand Victorian period (1860–1880), and the Late or Aesthetic Victorian period (1880–1901).
We consider this to be the Grand Victorian period.
This second Victorian period is famous for its sumptuous pieces set with pearls and diamonds (from South Africa). From around 1850, wealthy Englishmen brought back the existence of jewelry from India and Japan, which greatly inspired jewelers of this era. This period also corresponds to the death of King Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, which made mourning jewelry (set with heavy dark stones) the specific type of jewelry of this time.

Technique
The rose-cut diamonds are set on foil. This special technique was used to enhance the brilliance of the diamonds.
Diamonds
A rose-cut diamond. Although we generally do not provide information on the carat weight of rose-cut diamonds, the size of the central stone warrants a different approach. Therefore, for this particular stone, we estimate its carat weight at approximately ± 1.50 ct.
56 rose-cut and senaille diamonds. A senaille is a simplified rose-cut diamond, a small diamond chip sometimes with a few polished facets. We do not have the weight of the rose-cut diamonds or the senailles, unlike what is common in our trade.
The weight of the diamonds we mention is approximate since the stones are not removed from their settings in order to preserve the integrity of the mounting.
All the diamonds we offer are checked by the IJGC to determine if they are natural or synthetic, and all the diamonds in this jewel are guaranteed 100% natural.
Birthstones
Diamond is the birthstone (or stone of the month) for the month of April.
