Magnificent antique double-sided medal-pendant in solid 18-carat yellow gold (750 thousandths), stamped with a horse's head guarantee hallmark, used between 1838 and 1919. This piece of jewelry is a testament to French craftsmanship from the second half of the 19th century. Circular in shape, it is richly and finely engraved on the front with a Virgin Mary in Majesty surrounded by four angels bearing the inscription "N.D. DE FOURVIÈRE PRIEZ P.N." (Notre-Dame de Fourvière pray for us). It is a representation of the Chapel of the Virgin Mary of the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Lyon, built in the 12th century, whose altar and high altar are attributed to the baroque-style architect Jean Delamonce.
The reverse side features the statue of Mary crowned with her hands outstretched, which stands at the top of the basilica's bell tower. She is depicted on a guilloche background, surrounded by the inscription "ILS MONT ÉTABLIE GARDIENNE DL VILLE" (They have made me guardian of the city).
This emblematic basilica is part of the Lyon site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

- Condition: Very good, with very light micro-scratches. The bail is in rose gold and bears an old trace of tin solder, slight deformation of the ring. This is an authentic symbolic collector's piece.
