Bulgari is an Italian luxury brand known for its jewellery and watches, founded in the region of Epirus, Greece, in 1884 by the silversmith Sotirios Boulgaris. In the 50s and 60s, some of Bulgari's best-known clients included Elizabeth Taylor, Anna Magnani, Ingrid Bergman, Richard Burton, Audrey Hepburn, Tyrone Power and Gina Lollobrigida, as Rome earned a reputation as "Hollywood on the Tiber" with the Cinecittà studios.

In the 1970s, Bulgari emphasized the key concept of "wearability" in jewellery, calling for pieces to be worn from morning until night. Yellow gold was the favorite metal.

In the watchmaking field, a key date for Bulgari is 1977, when the brand created, in partnership with GERALD GENTA, the BVLGARI BVLGARI. Adorned with the brand's logo engraved on its bezel like the coins struck by Roman emperors, this timepiece was soon in great demand, prompting Bulgari to launch, in 1977, its first men's watch produced on a large scale.
