This ring, a relic from the 1950s, pays tribute to the eternal splendor of love, combining vintage charm and Art Deco influences. Crafted in 18-carat white gold, it is set with a rare intense orange-brown fancy diamond of 1.18 ct, a vibrant heart surrounded by 16 brilliant diamonds totaling 0.34 ct. Its hues evoke an era when such precious stones were reserved for royalty, conjuring the strength and romance of ancient myths. The diamond, the birthstone for April and an emblem of enduring affection, has been revered throughout history: once considered the tears of the gods, it is now a symbol of earthly devotion.

Stylistic features: This type of jewelry is very specific to the fifties of the 20th century. The Art Deco period, which had ended only twenty years earlier, continued to serve as a source of inspiration. It is sometimes difficult, even for a trained eye, to distinguish Art Deco from the fifties.

Additional information 01: Natural fancy-colored diamonds - A chemically pure and structurally perfect diamond is perfectly transparent, without shade or color. However, in reality, almost no natural gem-sized diamond is absolutely perfect. The color of a diamond can be altered by chemical impurities and/or structural defects in the crystal lattice. Depending on the shade and intensity of a diamond's coloring, this can decrease or increase its value. For example, most white diamonds are sold at a reduced price when a yellow tint is detectable, while intensely pink or blue diamonds (like the Hope Diamond) can be worth significantly more.

Diamonds exist in a variety of colors: steel gray, white, blue, yellow, orange, red, green, pink, violet, brown, and black, practically in every color of the rainbow.

The colored diamond classification system is used by internationally renowned laboratories (such as GIA and IGI) for colors that do not fall within the usual range of diamond colors. These laboratories use a list of 27 hues covering the entire color spectrum. The tone and saturation of these hues are then described by one of the following nine descriptors: Faint, Very Light, Light, Light, Light, Dark, Dark, Intense, Dark, and Vivid. The classification includes an additional aspect that describes the applicability of the color to the diamond. (Source: Wikipedia)

Additional information 02: Engagement rings were used in Roman times, but their return to the West did not occur until the 13th century. The first documented use of a diamond ring to symbolize an engagement was that of Archduke Maximilian of Austria at the imperial court of Vienna in 1477, during his engagement to Mary of Burgundy.

Before the 20th century, other types of engagement gifts were common. Before the end of the 19th century, the bride-to-be often received a thimble rather than an engagement ring. This practice was particularly widespread among religious groups who rejected jewelry. Engagement rings only became the norm in the West at the end of the 19th century, and diamond rings only became widespread in the 1930s. Today, 80% of women are offered a diamond ring for their engagement. (Source: Wikipedia)

Additional Information 03: The diamond is the birthstone for the month of April, and in addition to being the most popular gemstone for engagement rings, it is also the anniversary gemstone for the 10th and 60th wedding anniversaries.

Although the diamond is the hardest of all gemstones known to man, its composition is the simplest: it is ordinary carbon. The Ancient Greeks believed that diamonds were splinters of stars fallen to Earth. Some even claimed they were the tears of the gods, crystallized lightning, or hardened drops of dew. The exact origin of diamonds remained a mystery for centuries.

In ancient times, only kings wore diamonds, a symbol of strength, courage, and invincibility. Over the centuries, the diamond has acquired its unique status as the ultimate gift of love. It was said that Cupid’s arrows were adorned with diamonds, whose magic was unrivaled.
