Exceptional eighteenth-century multi-strand "Manin" mesh: chains made from pure gold curls (over 900 thousandths).
It is said that they were made by children who, with attentive eyes and the skill of small hands (hence the name "Manin"), could create these tiny interlinked rings, joined together without any soldering.
This necklace, a Venetian tradition, was the preferred choice of the nobility: at the birth of a daughter, its making would be commissioned and it would then become part of her future dowry. The richer and more powerful the family, the longer and more numerous the strands of the necklace.
In the case of this jewel, an artisanal creation, part of its exceptional nature lies in a completely original set, with no additions, handcrafted in every component, including the dividers. It belonged to an ancient noble Venetian family.
Composed of 18 strands, interlinked at doppio, it is on average 43 cm long.
