Splendid antique "Arles river" necklace in solid 18-carat 750-thousandths rose gold and in silver, eagle's head guarantee hallmark. French Provençal regional work from the late 19th century, Napoleon III era.
The central drapery part is composed of a flexible line of five elements set with rose-cut diamonds mounted on foils. The central element, holding a diamond drop-shaped pendant, is connected to its surroundings by four smaller diamond-set elements as well. That makes a total of ten diamonds for the necklace.
The chain with Link jaseron is adorned with a barrel clasp with a snap, with 6 finely engraved straight sides on each face.

Condition: Very good. Settings checked, necklace cleaned/polished by a jeweler. A very small dent on the clasp, which works very well. One foil has an opening at the back. This unique collector's necklace is complete with its original chain and clasp. A necklace of the same type is listed on page 200 of the book "Les bijoux des Français" by Michael Fieggen.
This rare necklace is a magnificent and authentic example of an old traditional French jewel, full of charm and sparkling. It does not go unnoticed.
