An exquisite Belgian Baroque-style pendant, dating from around 1700, bears witness to the influence of Christianity through its enduring cross motif. Crafted in a harmonious blend of silver on an 18-carat yellow gold base, a technique that enhances the appeal of the diamonds, this jewel is adorned with 18 rose-cut diamonds. A tangible echo of the artistic fervor of the time, it captures the dynamism and ornamental richness of the Baroque, reflecting an era when art was characterized by vigorous movement and exuberant forms.

Style characteristics:
Baroque is an artistic and decorative style that developed shortly before 1600 and remained common in Europe until the emergence of the Rococo style around 1730. Born in Italy, it spread to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Only a more or less austere classical version was popular in France under Louis XIV. This style, stemming from the Renaissance, is characterized by lively, curved, and exuberant forms, vigorous movement, and rich ornamentation, inspired by classical sources, symmetrical as opposed to the asymmetry of the Rococo style that succeeded it.
