Remarkable survivor of the Baroque era, this Portuguese or Spanish bow pendant dating from around 1650 sparkles with 41 table-cut emeralds in closed settings. Richly adorned, its sculptural ribbon shape evokes the dramatic and mouvementé character of 17th-century court fashion. From March 20, 2023 to March 31, 2025, it was exhibited at DIVA, the Antwerp jewelry museum, attesting to its cultural and artistic significance. Its fleur-de-lis hallmark, subtle wear, and finely engraved gold details evoke centuries past. Wearing this pendant means entering history, not as a spectator, but as a guardian.

Style specifics
Baroque is an artistic and decorative style that developed shortly before 1600 and remained common in Europe until the emergence of the Rococo style around 1730. Born in Italy, it spread to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Only a more or less austere classical version was popular in France under Louis XIV. This style, originating from the Renaissance, is characterized by lively, curved, and exuberant shapes, vigorous movement, and rich ornamentation inspired by classical sources, symmetrical as opposed to the asymmetry of the Rococo style that succeeded it.
