Exquisite example of Victorian Romantic art, dating from the 1850s, this tremblant brooch is crafted in 18-carat rose gold enhanced with silver. It embodies the sentimental value of the era thanks to a floral branch motif, adorned with 143 rose-cut diamonds and senailles, which quiver with every movement. Inspired by nature and symbolizing the love and devotion of the early reign of Queen Victoria, its intricate craftsmanship reflects a time when opulence was achieved with less. This brooch is a testament to an era of deep romanticism and expressive design.

Victorian - Victorian decorative arts refer to the style of decorative arts from the Victorian era. This period is known for its eclectic revival and interpretation of historical styles, as well as the introduction of cross-cultural influences from the Middle East and Asia into furniture, accessories, and interior decoration. Victorian design is widely perceived as having displayed a regrettable excess of ornamentation. The Arts and Crafts movement, the Aesthetic movement, the Anglo-Japanese style, and Art Nouveau all find their origins at the end of the Victorian era.

Style specifics:
The Romantic Victorian period - Experts divide the reign of Queen Victoria, also called the Victorian era (1837 - 1901), into three periods of about twenty years each: the Romantic Victorian period (1837 - 1860), the Grand Victorian period (1860 - 1880), and the Late or Aesthetic Victorian period (1880 - 1901).
We consider this period to belong to the Romantic Victorian period. This period covers the coronation of Victoria as Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, her marriage to King Albert, their love and devotion for their marriage and their country, which served as sources of inspiration. The jewelry of this period was made with intricate carvings, special techniques where enamel was subtly worked. These techniques allowed the jewel to have a certain opulence with less precious metals. Precious metals were very rare at that time. The most prized (semi-)precious stones of the period were amethyst, coral, garnets, cultured pearls, and turquoise. The connotation is obviously sentimental, symbolic, and romantic, with motifs reminiscent of the Gothic and/or Renaissance style, and an abundant use of motifs such as anchors, birds, branches, crosses, hearts, and snakes.

Tremblant or Trembleuse. This term refers to a jewel adorned with a flower or another motif, whose top is decorated with protruding rigid wires (set with precious stones) that vibrate when the piece is subjected to movement. Sometimes, these protrusions are fine springs in silver, like those used in the 18th century, but some examples were made with tubular rods enclosing a strip of steel spring.
Diamond(s):
