And yes, this gem is only found in its country of origin, Tanzania. This is the one and only place on the planet where you can find this fine stone! It was in 1967 that this deposit was discovered by Maasai shepherds, at the foot of Kilimanjaro. The mine is only 20 km2. Suffice to say that finding a tanzanite is a challenge. According to geologists, its only deposit will be exhausted in 20 years.
