Vintage ring in solid 18 carat yellow gold (750 thousandths) with eagle's head hallmarks and diamond hallmark of master goldsmith. French work circa 1950 by the famous jeweler Alphonse AUGIS branded "A.AUGIS". Adorned with a large round Love Medal with a star-shaped center set with four large claws. It bears the inscription in relief "+ qu'hier – que demain". The tray is bordered below by a very beautiful finely openwork gallery and joins the ring by four twisted gold wires.

Excellent overall condition, close to new. Settings checked, ring cleaned/polished by my jeweler. This is a rare and splendid ring variation of the classic model of the French Augis Love Medal, luminous and imposing.
It was in 1907 that Alphonse AUGIS, a jeweler in Lyon, inspired by a poem by the poet Rosemonde Gérard (1866-1953) dedicated to her husband the writer Edmond Rostand (1868-1918) author of "Cyrano de Bergerac" in 1897, created: The Medal of Love. He had the idea of transcribing the two lines: "Because you see every day I love you more Today + than yesterday and well - than tomorrow". The Medal of Love constantly recalls the fervor of eternal feelings.
