Originating from the Grand Victorian Period, around 1870, these long dangling earrings brilliantly reflect the opulence of the era. Made of silver and set with 14-carat red gold, they are adorned with 30 rose-cut diamonds, whose sparkling presence embodies the sumptuous style of the time. This period, marked by an influx of intercultural influences and a penchant for ornamental excess, is perfectly embodied in these earrings. Although their hooks have been carefully remade to preserve their integrity, the earrings are in very good condition, symbolizing the historical wealth and refined art of the Victorian era.

The Grand Victorian Period - Experts divide the reign of Queen Victoria, also called the Victorian era (1837 - 1901), into three periods of about twenty years each: the Romantic Victorian period (1837 - 1860), the Grand Victorian period (1860 - 1880), and the Late or Aesthetic Victorian period (1880 - 1901).
We consider this to be the Grand Victorian Period.
This second Victorian period is famous for its sumptuous pieces set with pearls and diamonds (from South Africa). From around 1850, wealthy Englishmen reported the existence of jewelry from India and Japan, which greatly inspired jewelers of the time. This period also corresponds to the death of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, which made mourning jewelry (set with heavy dark stones) the specific type of jewelry for this era.

It appears that the back of the rose-cut diamond settings has been opened and that the hooks seem to have been remade at some point during the approximately 150 years of existence of these earrings.
