Pendant Art Deco, circa 1930, in 18-carat white gold, adorned with an octagonal onyx plaque set with a rose-cut diamond in a beaded collet setting. The delicate tiered suspension is set with rose-cut diamonds, some smaller, creating a subtle play of light on the black background. Sober, architectural, and discreetly glamorous, this pendant evokes the spirit of the Roaring Twenties.

Style
The Art Deco is an eclectic artistic and decorative style that originated in Paris in the early decades of the 20th century. Emerging in the 1920s, it lasted until after the Second World War. The term "Art Deco" became popular after the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, which marked the peak of high-end modern style in Paris. Championed by the greatest creators in the decorative arts, such as fashion and interior decoration, Art Deco influenced all areas of design during the 1920s and 1930s, notably architecture, industrial design, and visual arts like painting, graphic arts, and cinema. At the time, this style was perceived as elegant, glamorous, functional, and resolutely modern.

Style features
Abstract motifs and geometric shapes are characteristic of Art Deco. This movement breaks with the pastel tones and organic forms of its predecessor, Art Nouveau, and incorporates influences from many styles and movements of the early 20th century, such as Neoclassicism, Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, and Futurism. Its popularity peaked in Europe during the Roaring Twenties and continued in the United States into the 1930s. While many artistic movements draw their roots or intentions from political or philosophical convictions, Art Deco was purely decorative.

Diamonds
Set with a prominent rose-cut diamond, with a face size similar to that of a round brilliant of approximately 0.75 ct (approximate equivalence).
Fourteen rose-cut diamonds and senéilles. A senéille is a simplified rose cut, a small diamond chip with possibly a few polished facets. We do not have the weight of the rose-cut diamonds or the senéilles, which is common in our trade.
- When we indicate the weight, color, and clarity of the diamonds, these values are approximate unless otherwise specified, as we do not remove the diamonds from their settings in order to preserve the integrity of the jewelry.
