Belle Epoque Duchess ring in solid 18-carat 750 thousandths rose gold and in platinum, Partially legible hallmark, exempt from inspection. Late 19th century French Victorian work.
Depicting a flower whose corolla is a square synthetic sapphire cut in a closed setting and whose two leaves are each set on platinum of a small rose-cut diamond. It is framed at the bottom by two volutes, each decorated with five rose-cut diamonds.
"Duchess" rings appeared in France in the 1880s and 1890s, a time when the return of the monarchy was hoped for.
Weight of the 12 diamonds: approximately 0.06 carats - Dimensions of the motif: 1.07 cm x 1.2 cm

Very good condition. Traces of gold oxidation. Settings checked, ring cleaned/polished/rhodium-plated. This is a lovely charming ring, for lovers of antique jewelry uncommon.
