An exquisite Rococo brooch dating from around 1780, whose design is a playful asymmetrical dance, in harmony with the frivolity of late Baroque art. Made of 18-carat yellow gold and silver, this piece captures the essence of this era with its refined ornaments of rockwork, shells, and scrolls. It is adorned with a striking rose-cut diamond of approximately 1.60 ct, set on foil to enhance its brilliance, a testament to the ingenuity of the craftsmanship of the time. A charming relic, it reflects the luxurious refinement of Louis XV's France.

Style
Rococo - Rococo (more rarely roccoco), also called "late Baroque," is an 18th-century style that developed when Baroque artists abandoned symmetry to become increasingly ornate, flowery, and playful. Rococo pieces were conceived as total works of art, with elegant and ornate furniture, small sculptures, decorative mirrors, and tapestries complementing architecture, reliefs, and wall paintings. It was largely supplanted by the neoclassical style. In 1835, the Dictionary of the French Academy stated that the word Rococo "generally designates the type of ornament, style, and motif associated with the reign of Louis XV and the beginning of that of Louis XVI." It therefore encompasses all types of art produced around the mid-18th century in France.

Style specifics
Rococo is a decorative style that succeeded, around 1730, the Baroque style in France (where it was also called rocaille). Its main characteristics are the asymmetry of ornaments and a repertoire composed largely of rockwork, shells, flowers, foliage, and scrolls. It was developed in France under Louis XV (1715-1774) and spread to Italy, Germany, and Austria, and to a lesser extent in England.
