Pompadour ring in solid 18-carat (750 thousandths) white gold, eagle's head hallmark (partially erased during polishing of the ring by a jeweler). French work. Oval ring head bordered below by a gallery of pierced gold lace, supported laterally by two palmettes. Centered with a fine oval sapphire of a rare pine green color measuring 8mm x 6mm set on ten prongs, in an entourage of ten grain-set 8x8-cut diamonds.
The Pompadour ring is a symbol of commitment, which has enchanted engaged couples for two centuries. The custom is to surround a colored gemstone with diamonds.
