On this elegant Estate engagement ring in platinum dating from 1920, the natural Colombian emerald radiates its lush green color over eight large old mine cut brilliant diamonds and ten smaller old mine single cut brilliant diamonds. At the front and back of this magnificent center, a tip adorned with two diamonds is folded over a cushion of diamonds to reach the emerald, giving it extra sparkle. On the left and right, two baguette cut diamonds frame the 1.03-carat stone, like guardians. From there, two other pierced diamond-shaped diamonds burst out, like stars, towards the diamonds of the band.
The brilliance of each azure setting will highlight your eternal vigil of affection filled with blankets of diamonds and stars topped with a blooming emerald.

Additional information:
Engagement rings were used in Roman times, but their return to the West only took place in the 13th century. The first documented use of a diamond ring to symbolize engagement was by Archduke Maximilian of Austria at the imperial court of Vienna in 1477, at his engagement to Mary of Burgundy.
Before the 20th century, other types of engagement gifts were common. Before the end of the 19th century, the bride-to-be often received a thimble rather than an engagement ring. This practice was particularly widespread in religious groups that rejected jewelry. Engagement rings only became the norm in the West at the end of the 19th century, and diamond rings only became widespread in the 1930s. Today, 80% of women are given a diamond ring for their engagement. (Source: Wikipedia)
