Exquisite example of Baroque art, this ring dating from around 1680 embodies the grandeur of the era. Made of 14-carat rose gold and silver, it features nine white gemstones, artfully imitating diamonds, in traditional rose cut set on foil, a technique that enhances their brilliance. Its design reflects the Baroque spirit: dynamic curves, exuberant shapes, and rich, symmetrical ornamentation, rooted in the classical style of the Renaissance, yet decidedly evolved. Its provenance remains mysterious, adding an aura of intrigue to its already captivating presence.

Style specifics
Baroque is an artistic and decorative style that developed shortly before 1600 and remained common in Europe until the emergence of the Rococo style around 1730. Born in Italy, it spread to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Only a classical, more or less austere version was popular in France under Louis XIV. This style, derived from the Renaissance, is characterized by lively, curved, and exuberant forms, vigorous movement, and rich ornamentation, inspired by classical sources, symmetrical as opposed to the asymmetry of the Rococo style that succeeded it.
