Technique: This piece of jewelry features filigree decoration, which is actually fine gold threads twisted into refined patterns, in this case elegant little balls. You may also notice the use of granulation on this piece. Granulation is a technique where the goldsmith uses very small balls (granules) of metal, which are not welded to the piece but soldered. Both techniques require very high skill and precision on the part of the manufacturer.
