It displays the traditional "Badine" cross, emblem of Christian symbolism, adorned with garnet, the birthstone of January. The pendant bears the French rooster's head hallmark, affirming its authenticity and period. Style
Empire - The Empire style, sometimes considered the second phase of Neoclassicism, is an architectural movement from the early 19th century, present in Europe and America until about 1830. This style takes its origin and name from the First Empire period, when Napoleon I ruled France. It aimed to idealize the power of Napoleon and the French state. It corresponds to the Biedermeier style in German-speaking countries, the Federal style in the United States, and the Regency style in Britain. An earlier phase of the style was called the Adam style in Britain and "Louis Seize" or Louis XVI in France.

Style specifics
Style that borrows stylistic specifics from ancient Greece and the Roman Empire (hence its name: Empire). The Empire period represents the second part of the Neoclassical style and demonstrates a strong French influence. This style finds its origin in Napoleon's desire to revive the luxurious majesty of Imperial Rome. Traditional classical motifs, already present under the reign of Louis XVI, were complemented by symbols of imperial grandeur: the monogramme of the emperor and his emblem, the bee; representations of military trophies; and, after the victorious Egyptian campaigns, Egyptian motifs. To briefly characterize this style, we could focus on two fundamental concepts: massiveness and symmetry.

Cross – The cross is one of the oldest human symbols and is used by many religions, such as Christianity. Additional information
Cross pendant "Badine" or little wind in gold and garnets, pear-shaped element articulated to the rest of the cross, bezel-set, with a folded and invisible bail. This cross was the most typical and traditional one made in Roussillon, France, and was worn with a silk or velvet ribbon tied or knotted around the neck. The shape of this jewel was already known to Catalan goldsmiths in 1663. Worn under the Empire and the Restoration, they can be seen in the portrait of Élisabeth Campagnac. Nowadays, French regional crosses are very rare compared to the variety that once existed. Most of these crosses are now kept in museums or private collections.
