This exquisitely detailed moonstone depicts the charming face of the man in the moon. Its carving is exquisite and its surface is matte. The man has a broad smile and round cheeks, reminiscent of the face of Buddha. The high relief of the carving gives it a special character. The moonstone shines and, in the light, sparkles with blue, purple, and yellow iridescence that appears throughout the translucent stone. A halo of diamonds surrounds the moon, with bright white diamonds contrasting with the piece, and a milgrain border that accentuates the beauty of the diamonds. A simple split band gives the ring a clean look and ends in a square band on the base.

This ring dates back to the 1950s, but the Man in the Moon was a popular motif during the Victorian era. Inspired by the shadowy face that seems to appear in the craters of the full moon, the Man in the Moon has captured the human imagination for centuries and has been evoked throughout the ages in myths and folklore. It first entered Victorian jewelry at the turn of the century, when celestial jewelry was a popular motif, reflecting the culture's fascination with astronomy.

The moonstone measures 9.25 mm in diameter. The ring is set with 30 natural diamonds, each 1 mm in diameter, for a total weight of 0.30 carats. The diamonds are H color and VS2 clarity.

The face of the ring measures 12.25 mm in diameter. It sits approximately 6 mm above the finger. It weighs 3.6 grams. Hallmarked 750 for 18-karat gold.
