An exquisite baroque cross pendant, dating from around 1700, probably of Belgian origin. Made of 18-carat yellow gold and silver, this piece of jewelry reflects the opulent baroque aesthetic with its dynamic shape and rich symmetrical ornamentation. It is set with 26 natural rose-cut diamonds and senailles, enhanced by the ancient leaf setting technique to maximize their brilliance. This pendant is not only a remarkable example of historical craftsmanship, but also a symbol of Christian faith and the timeless beauty of antique jewelry.

Style characteristics:
Baroque is an artistic and decorative style that developed shortly before 1600 and remained common in Europe until the emergence of the Rococo style around 1730. Born in Italy, it spread to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Only a more or less austere classical version was popular in France under Louis XIV. This style, derived from the Renaissance, is characterized by lively, curved and exuberant forms, vigorous movement and rich ornamentation, inspired by classical sources, symmetrical as opposed to the asymmetry of the Rococo style that succeeded it.
