Symbolic elegance: antique double serpent ring with diamonds and rubies
This fascinating vintage ring from around 1900 features a double serpent, a symbol of eternal love and wisdom. Crafted in reddish 18-carat yellow gold, the intertwining of the snakes testifies to the delicate craftsmanship of the late Victorian era and the beginning of Art Nouveau. Their heads are adorned with two old-cut diamonds (about 0.29 ct), while their eyes sparkle with four rubies. The fluid lines and organic curves of this piece are inspired by nature, combining elegance and symbolism. A true timeless creation, evoking both mystery and sophistication, this ring is a remarkable expression of 19th-century art.

Style
Between the Victorian era and Art Nouveau, Victorian decorative arts refer to the style of decorative arts of the Victorian era. This period is known for its eclectic revival and interpretation of historical styles, as well as for the introduction of intercultural influences from the Middle East and Asia in furniture, fittings, and interior decoration. Victorian design is widely regarded as having shown a regrettable excess of ornamentation.
The Arts and Crafts movement, aesthetic movement, Anglo-Japanese style, and Art Nouveau have their origins at the end of the Victorian era. Art Nouveau (in French "Nouveau Style") is an international movement and an artistic, architectural, and applied style—especially the decorative arts—which reached its peak at the turn of the 20th century (1890-1905).
The term "Art Nouveau" means "new art" in French. It is also known as "Jugendstil," which means "youth style" in German, after the magazine Jugend, which promoted it, and in Italy, Liberty style, from the London department store Liberty & Co., which popularized it. As a reaction to the academic art of the 19th century, it is characterized by organic motifs, notably floral and other plant motifs, as well as fluid and stylized curvilinear forms.
Art Nouveau is an approach to design in which artists should work on everything from architecture to furniture, integrating art into everyday life.

Theme
Snakes and serpents – Snakes and serpents are among the oldest and most widespread mythological symbols. The symbolic values they represent overlap considerably across various cultures. Part of this overlap is due to the common historical origin of contemporary symbols. However, much of this overlap is attributable to the shared biological characteristics of snakes.
Much can be said about snakes. Revered since antiquity, they are a powerful religious symbol with multiple meanings, such as death and resurrection. They have also been associated with healing and river gods, and symbolize fertility, wisdom, and healing power.
