Art Deco Louis Yellow Gold Purse Pendant

Adorable purse pendant in 18k yellow gold (750°/°°) holding a small natural pearl as a drop. While the work of Louis purse pendants in côte de Link is fairly common, those of this size are particularly sought after. Our example is slightly later than those regularly seen dating from 1900. It shows the first signs of Art Deco craftsmanship, with the upper part of the purse adorned with a geometric cut-cornered design, allowing it to be dated to around 1920. Presence of the weevil hallmark in an oval cartouche for 18-carat gold pieces imported into France.
