The collection of Dior jewelry called "Rose des vents" takes its name from the superstitious character of Monsieur Dior. During his first meeting with Monsieur Boussac, he found a metal star in the street and kept it in his pockets all his life so that it would bring him luck.
The compass rose was also an important symbol in the designer's life, as there was one in the garden of his childhood home in Granville, which he honored by creating an eponymous haute couture dress in 1950.
