Rare and sublime flexible bracelet with palm tree mesh and rope mesh, held by a domed crescent which hangs a pompom fringed with fine column mesh, which has some gaps. The blade clasp has a safety figure eight.
Rock Sterlé (1905-1978) was famous for his innovative approach to jewelry design, embodying the design dynamics of the 1950s. He worked for many major jewelry houses on Place Vendôme, including Boucheron, Chaumet and Van Cleef & Arpels.
The success of Sterlé as an artist at this time ensured him recognition in France as well as on a global scale. He worked for many heads of state and royalty and socialized with other avant-garde artisans in France, such as Jean Cocteau, Georges Braque and Salvador Dalí.
Above all, it is the invention of the "golden knitting technique" or "angel thread" by Sterlé which made him famous at the height of his career in the 1950s and 1960s, and our bracelet is a perfect illustration of this.
