Antique engagement ring in 18Kt rose gold, worked in volume, the center of which is decorated with an opal cabochon in a setting of rose-cut diamonds and black enamel.
Old pin recently reassembled into a ring by our workshop.
19th century Victorian French work for the original pin.

Condition: slight wear to the setting and the metal, very slight micro scratches and oxidation on the gold parts, and very slight enamel missing, see photos.
The name opal comes from Sanskrit. upala which means “precious stone”, but also from Latin opalus and Greek opallios which mean “to see a change in color”.
