A rare opportunity to own a true period Burmese ruby—unheated, original, and preserved in its 19th-century setting.
Circa 1885–1895. A breathtaking example of late Victorian craftsmanship, this original navette-shaped cluster ring features a WGI certified 0.59ct unheated Burmese ruby, displaying a vivid, glowing purplish red with beautifully saturated color. The ruby is hand-cut in a cushion-oval shape, secured in period prongs, and tested as natural, unheated corundum of Burmese origin, a rarity in antique jewelry and highly sought after by collectors.
Surrounding the ruby is a sparkling halo of approximately 1.20 carat of antique old mine and early old European cut diamonds, each individually hand-set. The stones show the warm fire, tall crowns, and charming facet asymmetry characteristic of 19th-century cutting.
The face of the ring is crafted in silver over gold, the traditional Victorian technique to enhance the whiteness of the diamonds, while the band is solid 18k gold. The elongated navette silhouette is exceptionally flattering on the hand, offering the presence and spread of a much larger ring while remaining elegant and refined.
