We fell in love with this lovely 18-carat white gold ring. It consists of a ring half-set with white diamonds. On top of the ring is set a splendid rectangular spinel, with an intense blue color. The latter is adorned with a delicate pavé of diamonds, majestically surrounding the stone.

A few words about spinel
Fine stone also called “semi-precious”, spinel stone refers to a family of minerals presenting a wide variety of colors ranging from red, blue, pink, purple, black, green and even orange. . Bright and full of vivacity, the spinel stone comes from the Latin “spina” which means “thorn” due to the shape of the naturally pointed crystals.
Spinel (and yes, it is a masculine name) was discovered in Afghanistan in 100 BC. Often confused with ruby or even sapphire - generally sporting a red or blue color - it is thanks to the mineralogist Jean-Baptiste Louis Rome de Lisle (1783) that spinel is identified as a fine stone in its own right. Today, spinels are extracted on all continents and more particularly in Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Burma and even Brazil.
