Pomellato, le design à l’italienne

Pomellato, Italian design

Even if Pomellato belongs to the French group Kering since 2013, the brand remains strongly imbued with Italian design, a clever mix between innovation and fashion codes.

A new ready-to-wear concept

Heir to a family of goldsmiths, Pino Rabolini founded his brand in Milan in 1967 by creating the new concept of ready-to-wear jewelry. A precursor of the 1970s, he wanted to free women from the too-status side of jewelry sets. Inspired by the artists of the Jamaica bar he frequented, he wanted to pay tribute to these free women he admired. He therefore liked to break the chains to give freedom to women. A symbol that he developed through numerous chain designs like lines Iconica, Victoria or Anni 70. These creations are made up of flexible chains, connected by large clasps with a contemporary shape. Some models are adorned with jet or diamonds to intensify the strength of the design. Helmut Newton's communications campaigns in the 1980s reinforced the idea of women of character, masters of their destiny. Today, women with strong personalities like Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett or Chiara Ferragni carry the brand's values.

Nudo : the iconic collection

Created in 2001, this collection allowed Pomellato to become an international brand, present in more than 30 countries around the world. This iconic model is symbolic by the diversity of colors and its square shape with rounded edges highlighting the simplicity of bare stone. nudo ". Launching the first models with a few fine stones such as aquamarine, peridot or tourmaline, the collection has since expanded into hundreds of versions. In addition to fine stones, some models feature rings paved with diamonds (Nudo with diamonds), frosted stone effects (Nudo frozen) or milky-colored stones (Nudo Milky). In addition to the rings which are the real best sellers, the brand has developed sets adding necklaces, necklaces or bracelets. The innovation of this collection is also based on rings to be worn in accumulation, creating a truly global trend in jewelry.

Made in Italy and responsible manufacturing

Passionate about horses, Pino Rabolini chose the name Pomellato reminiscent of their “dappled” coat. Today, the brand is inspired by the equestrian world for the new Fantinaa collection meaning “jockey” in Italian. The large loops evoke the design of stirrups, but also architectural details of the grand staircase of the Filodrammatici theater in Milan. It is above all Italian design that is highlighted, characterized by the purity of lines and the art of movement giving style to today's new Amazons.

Since 2019, Pomellato is a member of the Responsible Jewelery Council (RJC) which guarantees perfect traceability of its materials. The brand went even further by offering the Nuvola collection with Fairmined gold, an additional certification for the traceability of gold mines. It has also just launched a version with Greenland rubies, approved by local authorities meeting CSR requirements.

DoDo for endangered animals

To add to Pomellato, it is the environmental vision of founder Pino Rabolini which made it possible to create the new DoDo brand. Through its various “charm” jewelry, the brand features the famous Dodo bird as a lucky symbol. He is surrounded by his many friends: rhinoceroses, elephants and butterflies. A pioneer in the field of eco-responsibility, the DoDo brand has teamed up with the NGO Tenaka offering bracelets made from mini-grains of recycled plastic. The sale helps restore coral reefs and offers a vision of an eco-responsible brand.
