Les différentes mailles pour chaînes

The different links for chains

Worn alone or with pendants, mesh chains are essential elements of jewelry: they provide strength and flexibility, while offering an almost infinite variety of designs.

Forçat mesh

The forced mesh is one of the most classic and is made up of round or oval links of equal sizes. It is often appreciated for its simplicity and solidity, which makes it an excellent choice for necklaces with pendants.

Gourmette Mesh

The gourmette mesh is another great classic in jewelry. It is composed of links thicker than the forced mesh, flat and slightly twisted, in order to be interlocked with each other. This mesh is often used for bracelets, in particular the gourmette bracelet, which is very popular among men. It is also used for imposing necklaces, in urban pop culture.

Figaro mesh

The Figaro mesh is a combination of links of different sizes: a long rectangular link (referred to as the horse link) followed by several shorter links, round, flat and slightly twisted, similar to the curb link. This link charms for its airy appearance, originating from Italy, offering a distinguished look particularly appreciated in men's jewelry.

Navy Mesh

Inspired by anchor chains used in the navy, the marine mesh consists of oval links with a bar in their center, attached by small round rings. This mesh is unisex. It is a very popular style, often robust, and which evokes a nautical and chic look, suitable for both men's and women's jewelry.

Rope Mesh or Twisted Mesh

The twisted meshdee features spiral links, giving a twisting effect to the chain, similar to the aesthetic of a rope made by a series of rings. The strong point of this mesh is that it easily attracts light, and is enough to accessorize an entire outfit on its own by the sophistication of its assembly!

Ball Mesh

The ball stitch, also known as "ball mesh", consists of a series of small balls linked together by rings or a fine chain, offering a soft and unique appearance. Very feminine, it is often used for minimalist necklaces and bracelets, because it has the advantage of being highly versatile.

Palm Tree Mesh

The palm mesh is composed of several intertwined links, giving the impression that gold threads are braided to form patterns reminiscent of palm leaves. It is an imposing and sophisticated mesh, ideal for jewelry with character.

Rice Grain Mesh

Rice grain mesh is made up of small links in the shape of grains of rice, elongated, smooth and rounded at their ends. This type of mesh is both light, fluid and very comfortable to wear, and is often used for fine and elegant bracelets and necklaces.

Coffee Bean Mesh

With its links in the shape of coffee beans connected by small openwork oval rings, this voluminous mesh has a look that is both chic and vintage. Also nicknamed simply "Coffee mesh", this bulky mesh and also weigh a significant amount.

Snake Mesh

Snake mesh is distinguished by its smooth and continuous appearance, with tight spiral-shaped links that give an impression of fluidity. This flexible mesh is comfortable and pleasant to wear, it perfectly hugs the neck of its wearer while emphasizing it with itsn shiny appearance that attracts the eye. Unlike the other meshes in this selection, the mesh works only as a solitaire; it does not support a pendant.

Horse mesh

The horse mesh is characterized by thin, flat, oval links, similar to the curb chain but more elongated. Strong and elegant, the Cheval chain is often used for bracelets and necklaces, and is well suited to men's jewelry. There are several variations of the Cheval mesh, featuring a long ring alternating with a shorter ring, or several, as with the marine mesh.

Jaseron mesh

The Jaseron mesh is formed by round and thick links, alternating with oval rings, very close to each other. Pleasant to wear, this type of mesh is appreciated for traditional and vintage style bracelets and necklaces.

Omega Mesh

Omega chain is made up of small links joined tightly together, forming a flat, rigid chain. Much like snake chain, omega chain elegantly hugs the neck, but in a thinner shape, making it a popular choice for short choker-style necklaces and choker.

American Mesh

American knitwear consists of two rows of round, flat, thick links, similar to Jaseron mesh but spaced further apart. It offers a solid look and is very popular for men's chains and bracelets.

English mesh

English mesh is made up of rounded, slightly twisted, and flattened links that give it a full and textured appearance. English mesh makes up bulky chains, it is heavier than the other meshes in this selection and often chosen for statement necklaces.

Venetian mesh

Venetian mesh is made up of small square or rectangular links of 2 different sizes, which fit into each other, forming a flexible chain with a clean, geometric design.

Polish Mesh

Polish mesh, similar to palm mesh but much more imposing in its composition, is formed of multiple small intertwined links, almost similar to textile sewing.

Singapore Mesh

Little known, the Singapore mesh is a chain as elegant as it is sophisticated with its twisted appearance, it offers a variation of the rope mesh, being more openwork which leaves the possibility of placing a pendant there.

How to choose the type of mesh for a jewel?

The choice of mesh depends above all on the desired style, comfort, and the intended use of the jewel.

To hang a pendant :

We advise you to favor fine meshes such as the forced mesh, the horse mesh or the figaro mesh, whose main role is to highlight the pendant.

For a solo chain:

  • If you want a look classic and efficient, we suggest you opt for the unbeatable gourmette mesh, the coffee bean mesh or even the ball mesh.
  • For a look original and sophisticated, we will guide you towards more elaborate stitches such as rope stitch, American stitch, Singapore stitch or English stitch
  • Finally, for lovers of discreet luxury, we recommend snake mesh, rice grain mesh or Venetian mesh.
