1 - The Cullinan diamond

The Cullinan is the most famous diamond. Its weight is 3160 carats, the largest weight discovered so far. The diamond owes its name to the owner of the Premier Mine in South Africa: Thomas Cullinan. It is here that the diamond was discovered for the first time.

2 - The Hope Diamond 

The Hope Diamond is also called the “Great Blue Diamond”. It currently weighs 44.52 carats. But this has not always been the case. Formerly it weighed 112 carats, a much greater weight, but the diamond has undergone numerous cuts throughout its history. This jewel is the second most visited work of art in the world, just behind the Mona Lisa. It is also said to have inspired the “Heart of the Ocean” which appears in the Titanic.

3 - The Darya-e Noor 

Meaning “Sea of Light” in Persian, it is currently one of the jewels in the Iranian crown. Its pale pink color makes it one of the rarest diamonds. Its weight is 182 carats and it is located in Tehran, in the crown jewels in the basement of Markazi Bank. 

4 - Crown blue diamond

The blue diamond in the crown is a diamond belonging to Louis XIV. Its weight is estimated at 69 carats. 

5 - Golden Jubilee

The Golden Jubilee is the heaviest diamond ever cut in the world. It currently weighs 545.67 carats. It was discovered in the Premier Mine in South Africa. It was entrusted to Gabi Tolkowski, a renowned cutter, who was able to obtain a stone of more than 700 carats after studying it for many months. The society De Beers then sold it to the royal family of Thailand. It was set on the royal scepter at thesecond-hand of the fiftieth anniversary of the reign of Rama IX. 

6 - Great Mogol Diamond

This diamond is the fifth largest to date. Dressed in its light blue color, it weighs 280 carats. This stone belonged to the treasure of the Mughal Empire of India. It was discovered in 1650 in the Indian mine of Kollur. But in 1739 the diamond disappeared, its whereabouts are still unknown today. 

7 - Diamond Koh i noor

The Koh i Noor diamond is a British Crown Jewel. Its name means “Mountain of Light”, its weight is equivalent to 105,602 carats. The history of this diamond is quite special, it is known for its legendary curse which brings benefits to Men. For hundreds of years, the diamond passed from hand to hand, bringing wealth to the women who owned it, but always ending up bringing death among men. The diamond was found in Punjab, India. This diamond, which was offered to the queen Victoria in the second half of the 19th century, is today at the center of the crown of the British royal family. The Queen Victoria also wanted it to be worn only by a woman. 

8 - Regent Diamond

The Regent diamond weighs 140.50 carats. It was discovered in South India, more particularly in the Parteal mine. After belonging to the Duke of Orléans, the diamond took the name of Régent and was included in the Royal Treasury of France. Louis XV wore it on his crown during his coronation in 1722 and Marie-Antoinette regularly wore it as jewelry. The regent is now visible at the Louvre in the Apollo Gallery.

9 - Orloff Diamond

The Orloff diamond appeared in India in the mid-18th century. This pear-shaped cut diamond weighs 195 carats. This stone was once limited to men because it was the symbol of prestige and glory, while men were limited to virility. This diamond is currently on display at the Diamond Foundation in the Kremlin and has had the honor of being included on the Imperial Spectrum of Russia. 

10 - The Eureka diamond

This diamond owes its fame to its discovery alone, because as its name indicates it was the first diamond to have been found in South Africa. It weighs 10.93 carats. The president of the De Beers bought the diamond on behalf of his company.

11 - Florentine Diamond 

The Florentine diamond is of Indian origin. It is lemon yellow in color and weighs 137.27 carats. He is also called Grand Duke of Tuscany. This diamond is cut in the shape of a rose which has 126 facets and nine sides. The diamond is now missing.

12 - Le Sancy

The pale yellow Sancy is shaped like a shield. It weighs 55.23 carats. Today it belongs to the collection of treasures of the French Crown at the Louvre in Paris.

13 – Tiffany Diamond

This diamond belongs to the New York jewelry house Tiffany and Co. It was discovered in 1877 in the Kimberley mine in South Africa. It is adorned with an intense yellow color and weighs 128.51 carats. It has been displayed in numerous exhibitions around the world, but it is in the jeweler's boutique on Fifth Avenue that it is most often seen.
