La Tourmaline : pierre de naissance du mois d'octobre

Tourmaline: birthstone of the month of October

There Tourmaline is associated with the month of October, just like Opal. and still remains in our trends even in 2022!

History and symbols of Tourmaline

The name of this semi-precious stone comes from Sri Lanka, a legend says that tourmaline would have descended from the sky to Earth. During its descent, it would have crossed or slid on a rainbow which would have given it its infinite variations of color. Hence its name meaning "the stone of a thousand colors". Tourmaline has been known since the 3rd century BC but it has been very often confused with other minerals due to its wide variety of colors. This is why there are few stories, legends or beliefs related to Tourmaline. Its late identification therefore makes it almost a recent stone with a relatively short history.

This stone is considered a stone of awakening and resolution, it encourages compassion and wisdom, it soothes emotions and maintains a state of serenity.

Tourmaline and its wide variety of colors

Here are some of our favorite jewelry pieces that showcase all the beautiful colors of this stone: Chrome Green Tourmaline, Blue to Blue/Green Indicolite, Pink to Dark Red Rubellite, and the more recent and sought-after Paraiba Tourmaline. You can learn more about tourmaline colors on our blog. Designers who are most passionate about color play have often featured it in their jewelry pieces, such as the Maison Bulgari or the maison Gucci
