L. LEROY & Cie., 18k yellow gold pocket watch.
White enamel dial with black enamel Arabic numerals. Fleur-de-lys minute track and Arabic numerals at 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes. Gold arabesque hands.
Reverse of the watch decorated with musical instruments, bows and garlands, in three golds.
Mechanical movement with manual winding (movement restarts but needs to be revised).
The case back opens and bears the number 11404, as well as the double L and C hallmark of Maison Leroy. The movement bowl bears the following engraving: No. 3025, L. Leroy & Cie, horlogers de la Marine, 7 bd de la Madeleine, Paris.
Preserved in its branded brown morocco case.

Dimensions: 28 x 40 mm approximately. - Gross weight: 26.4 g (18k – 750/1000 – horse head hallmark).
Condition: movement needs servicing. Small black marks on the dial, but enamel in good condition. Small scratches.
History: The watch can be dated to the very beginning of the 20th century because the Leroy watchmaking house, which had existed since the end of the 18th century, changed its name from 1889 and especially from 1895 with the arrival of Louis Leroy. It thus became L. Leroy & Cie. Then the activity was transferred to Boulevard de la Madeleine in Paris from 1899.
Finally, the horse head hallmark used to guarantee the titration of 18k gold was only used until 1919.
Our watch must therefore have been manufactured between 1899 and 1919.
However, its decoration could not predict this because this type of cartouche with allegories surrounded by garlands was rather represented in the 18th century.
