Important old pendant medal in solid 18-carat 750 thousandths yellow gold, eagle's head hallmark. branded 'DROPSY' for the renowned engraver Emile Dropsy (1848-1923).
French Art Nouveau work.
Oblong in shape, it is finely engraved with a beautiful relief of the bust of the Virgin Mary with crossed hands, in a radiant gold surround. Decorated with a garland of roses at the top and bottom. Engraved on the reverse with a beautiful monogram 'OE' accompanied by a date "April 26, 1925".
