Old round pendant medal in solid 18-carat (750 thousandths) yellow gold, eagle's head guarantee hallmark, branded 'PAUL BRANDT'. French work Art Deco from the 1930s. It is finely carved representing Saint Christopher carrying the child Jesus on his shoulders to help him cross the raging stream. With the inscription to those around you: “LOOK AT St CHRISTOPHER AND GO AWAY, BE REASSURED”. Saint Christopher is the patron saint and protector of travelers.
Engraved on the back “February 4, 1933” and the monogramme “LB.”

Paul Brandt was born in Switzerland in 1883. A talented jeweler, painter, sculptor and engraver, he settled in Paris, where he attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. In 1923, he received a gold medal from the Society of French Artists. He became more famous in the 1930s, thanks to his very modernist geometric work. Note that Paul Brandt created, or manufactured few pièces, compared to other jewelers of this era.
Very good state. Very light micro scratches on the front, a little more pronounced on the back. Beautiful relief of the carving and beautiful warm color of the gold. It is a rare medal of very good quality of execution, with fine and rich decoration, for men or women.
